Marilu van der Hoven is a qualified physiotherapist with more than 7 years of experience working in the health sciences treating a multitude of injuries. She has worked as a physiotherapist in the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Donald Gordon and Life Flora Hospital before starting her own private practice in Roodepoort, Johannesburg.

She has extensive experience treating injuries with an emphasis on treating the cause of the injury not just the symptoms in order to facilitate speedy return to activity, whether it is high level sport, or simply walking, moving correctly and without pain. She has a commitment to practicing to the highest professional standards, with the simple principle of a thorough assessment to determine the problem and underlying cause. She then creates a treatment plan incorporating extensive manual therapy skills and specific exercises to facilitate fast return to activity. It is clear that many injuries are created by issues in other areas of the body and Marilu uses her assessment skills to address these areas as well.

​During her 4 year studies at WITS to receive her BSc, Marilu van der Hoven focused her skills on understanding; Cardiopulmonary, Orthopaedic, Neuromuscular-skeletal, Paediatrics, Neurology and Community health. Since then she has not stopped learning, with a passion for the Sciences she has recently dedicated her year to studying Lymphoedema management. Understanding the Basic principles of MLD. Compression Bandaging, Compression Garments, Exercises and Instructions in Self MLD/ Self Bandaging Techniques, Elastic Taping and more. Marilu has a special interest in chronic pain and has seen many patients arrive at complete healing through using her skills from many post-graduate courses to ensure the client receives the best possible care.
